Telephone Service

  1. Q: How can I sign up?

    A: Call or stop by your local office, or visit us online.

  2. Q: Do I need to purchase a new phone to have your service?

    A: Your existing telephone equipment will be compatible with our services.

  3. Q: Do I have to change my telephone number?

    A: You can keep your existing phone number or we can assign you a new phone number.

  4. Q: Can you use the existing wiring in my house?

    A: Our telephone system should work on your existing inside wiring. We will have to run a new drop to your house and install our own outdoor interface.

  5. Q: I have underground utilities, will my landscape be disturbed?

    A: If your existing utilities are buried, we will have to bury our entrance as well. In most cases this can be done with very little disruption. Most excavation will be unnoticed within a few days or weeks depending on the site and the weather conditions.

  6. Q: I have a PBX in my office, will Brandenburg Telecom be able to provide the same services I'm receiving now?

    A: Yes, we will be able to provide the same services you are currently receiving. Our technicians have many years experience with large phone systems. Our telephone switching equipment can provide you a number of services.

  7. Q: Should my telephone service go "dead", when can I expect it to be fixed?

    A: Our policy is to try to fix every known outage before we go home at night if at all possible. If your problem is reported to our repair office after hours, it will be fixed promptly the next day, if possible. Severe outages will be repaired as quickly as possible. We will strive to keep outages to a minimum. Should outages occur, it is our goal to have service restored as quickly as feasible.

  8. Q: Will I be able to call all Brandenburg Telephone Company subscribers as a local call?

    A: In Elizabethtown, your local calling area will consist of the following exchanges: Cecilia, Elizabethtown, Hodgenville, Radcliff, South Hardin (Glendale, Sonora, and Upton), and Vine Grove. In Hardinsburg, your local calling area will consist of the following exchanges: Cloverport, Custer, Hardinsburg, Irvington and McDaniels.

  9. Q: Not everyone in my apartment building wants to switch to Brandenburg Telecom, can I still switch?

    A: With the approval of the landlord, yes you may subscribe to our services. Some limitations could apply.

  10. Q: Do I have to pick a long distance carrier to handle my long distance calling?

    A: Brandenburg Telecom is a full service company. We will carry your long distance calls with dependable service and exceptional rates.

Billing

    A: Our application form has rates.

  2. Q: Will all my services be on the same bill?

    A: All your services will be on the same bill, including Local, Long Distance, Internet, and Digital Video.

  4. Q: Where can I pay my bill?

    A: You will be able to pay your bill at any Brandenburg Telephone Company or Brandenburg Telecom, LLC business office. Click here to view a list of our locations.

    A: Our offices are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm E.S.T, Monday thru Friday.

Internet Services

  1. Q: What is broadband?

    A: Broadband is high speed access. We will offer different DSL packages with a variety of speed ranges.

  2. Q: If I choose one of your DSL packages, do I have to select an Internet provider as well?

    A: Our DSL packages will include dependable Internet access from Brandenburg Telephone Company.

  3. Q: Will I have to change anything on my computer to subscribe to DSL?

    A: Your computer will need to be equipped with a Network Interface Card (NIC).

  4. Q: Do I have to have DSL to have your Internet service?

    A: No, we will have Dial-Up Internet available.

  5. Q: I have Internet with your other company, Brandenburg Telephone Company, will I have to change my e-mail address?

    A: No, your Internet will not change. Your Brandenburg Telephone Company Internet can be billed on your Brandenburg Telecom bill.

  6. Q: Is your Internet access separate from Brandenburg Telephone Company?

    A: Brandenburg Telecom and Brandenburg Telephone Company utilizes the same Internet Network, www.bbtel.com

  7. Q: Can I run a server or network from my DSL account?

    A: You may, please read our terms of service agreement located on our web site.

  8. Q: Do I need to buy a new modem to connect to your DSL?

    A: Brandenburg Telecom will provide the DSL modem.

Digital Video

  1. Q: What is Digital Video?

    A: Digital video is high quality TV programming delivered to your home by telephone lines.

  2. Q: Do I need a new TV to subscribe to Digital Video?

    A: Your existing TV will work with our Digital Video. You will notice a much clearer picture and sound as well.

  3. Q: Is Digital Video like cable or satellite TV?

    A: Yes, Digital Video is similar to both.

    • 100% digital signal similar to satellite, less snow and ghosting
    • Local channels like cable
    • More channels than standard cable delivers
    • No loss of signal during heavy wind or rain like satellite systems
    • You subscribe to a programming package like both
  4. Q: Do I need any additional equipment?

    A: Digital Video requires a different outdoor interface located outside. Inside the home you will have a "Set Top Box". The Set Top Box is similar to a VCR. Brandenburg Telecom will provide each subscriber one set top box. This equipment is property of Brandenburg Telecom and must be returned when service is disconnected.

  5. Q: Can I use more than one TV at a time?

    A: You will be able to use 3 TVs simultaneously with one Set Top Box. The Set Top Box can be used with up to 3 remotes.

  6. Q: What programming packages are available?

    A: We have our channel lineup on the Digital Video page.

  7. Q: Will I have access to "Pay Per View" movies?

    A: Yes, pay per view movies and sports will be available

  8. Q: Can I set parental controls to keep my children from viewing questionable material?

    A: Yes, our remotes can be programmed to deny access to certain channels with the easy code programming.

  9. Q: Does my home need to be re-wired to receive Digital Video?

    A: One TV will need to be located near a telephone outlet. The signal will come into the Set Top Box via the telephone line. It will be distributed to other TVs via the existing coaxial cable.
